Hi 3rd graders!
We are preparing for our String Jamboree concert on March 9th - hooray! Keep up the hard work so you can feel prepared and confident at our performance!
Here's what we did in class this week:
We practiced a D scale, using LONG, smooth bows.
Reviewed some Twinkle Variations using ideas from our String players!
Started our third and final piece for String Jamboree -- Wayland Overture! This special piece was written especially for us and has parts for every grade level. The 3rd grade part looks hard because it's long, but it's so easy -- just open strings! No left hand fingers needed at all! And it's all labeled for you. Hooray!
Played through the melody of Ode to Joy.
For next week, please practice the following:
Ode to Joy - get very confident playing it with your bow!
Twinkle Variations - practice playing Twinkle with any variations you like, but make sure you can do the Mississippi Hot Dog version!
Wayland Overture! You can play the whole thing! There is a recording of it below... this is how it will sound with ALL parts together, grades 3-12!
SEE BELOW FOR RECORDINGS OF OUR STUFF!
The original Twinkle Variations!
We hope our performance of Ode to Joy ends up better than this :)
