Hello 5th graders!
We're still getting into the swing of things as we continue our review in the book.
This week in lessons we will continue working through pages 3-8 and reviewing these keys and key signatures:
D Major: 2 sharps
G Major: 1 sharp (violins can play the lower octave, starting on G string, and upper octave, starting with G on the D string!)
C Major: 0 sharps (violas/cellos can play the lower octave, starting on C string, and upper octave, starting with C on the G string!)
We'll read through most of these pages pretty quickly in lessons, so as a reminder if anything feels unfamiliar, please look back at book 1 to find where those concepts/notes were introduced.
This week in orchestra we will review measures 9-17 of Night Flight with a reminder that the key signature has a new note in it: B flat! Just a brief intro on that this week and we will do more next time. We'll also work on the last four measures, trying to learn the fun rhythm by ear. One school thought of these words.... "Play-- Donkey Kong -- right now!" Can you think of new rhythm words?
The assignment for next week is: finish reviewing pages 1-8 at home, and review Night Flight 1-17 and last 4 measures.
