Hello 4th graders!
This week we are continuing to work on half steps (see last week's post for explanation if you don't remember!). Here's what we're doing in lessons:
Playing #136, a C Scale duet
Reviewing #137, Oak Hollow
Reviewing #138, A Tisket A Tasket, splitting the song in half to play in groups
Working on #139, Russian Folk Tune, slowly and looking for patterns
This week, you'll be reviewing #139 and working on #141 and #142. If time in class, you will listen to the theme of #142 and see if you can identify it! What is changed in the variation, the melody or the rhythm? Can you think of any other variations on a familiar tune you have already learned?
If time, we will also watch part of the video below, which is the melody of #141. Notice how the theme is first sung in unison, then in a 2-part round, then in a 3-part round! If we don't get to watch this video together, we'll watch some of it next week.
