Hello 4th graders!
Here's what we're up to this week in lessons:
Many students received new instruments in a larger size
Echoed patterns of our brand new notes, low G, A, B & C (see chart above to review how to play them!
Learned how to play a G scale
Played exercises on pg. 26 and talked about how to read the music for our new notes
In orchestra this week, we
Reviewed good position and our D and G scales
Reviewed the melody for "French Folk Song". This song has 3 beats per measure. We worked on moving our bows slowly on each dotted half note and holding it for 3 full beats
Learned Harmony 1 and Harmony 2 as a group. We talked about their differences and how they fit with the melody.
Played all 3 parts at the same time, creating beautiful harmony!
Listened to Olympic Fanfare, then tried a bit of it together
Challenge yourself to label your music as little as possible! If reading music still feels hard, keep reviewing your D string flashcards from last year (we have extras to give you if you misplaced them!).
Next week, we will get some flashcards for the new notes and keep working on "Olympic Fanfare." If you received it already, you can begin working on it!
Before next week's lesson, please practice:
D and G scales, #93-99 in the book, French Folk song (review all parts), Olympic Fanfare melody (A part)
Have fun!
Ms. Tandon & Ms. Pisklo
HERE is a recording of Olympic Fanfare in case you want to listen at home!
