Hello 3rd graders!
This week in lessons we will:
Warm up with a scale in "Dog Chase the Cat" rhythm
Review #89 Bile 'em Cabbage down. We will review both the A and B parts and then try them together. Then we will learn the fancy ending:
High D AA B A (rest) C# High D
If time, we will also watch the amazing video of Mark O'Connor performing it (look at the post from last week if you want to watch it again!)
Talk about how to read music and some fun sentences we can remember to help us remember the names of the lines of the music staff
Violin: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge
Viola: Fat Alley Cats Eat Garbage
Cello/Bass: Grizzly Bears Don't Fly Airplanes
While students do a note-reading worksheet, I'll listen to some karate belts for Twinkle and/or Ode to Joy.
Finally, we will review #88 (Frere Jacques), 2 measures at a time, echo after the leader. We will have students get to try leading each part, then will perform the whole song together!
The assignment for next week is:
Look at #91, Lightly Row. Remember months ago when we plucked it? This week can you learn both of the "A" (melody) lines for this harder version!? If you would like an extra challenge, try #91 part B!
If you want to try some note reading online for fun, play the "Name That Note" game below (scroll down)!
Remember to turn in your March Madness practice calendar next week -- add up the minutes and get it signed!
