It's officially November... I mean... BOW-VEMBER! That's right, we will be doing lots of hard work to learn how to hold our bows properly so we can begin using them soon! We will start learning the correct bow hold shape on a pencil first. This week, you will receive your Bow Hold Learner's Permit. You will have to complete 75 correct pencil bow holds by the end of the November before you can earn your license to bow! Aim to do around 4-5 bow holds each time you practice and go through them slowly and thoughtfully to make sure you form it correctly!
To review, here's what we did in class today:
Played Hot Cross Buns & the DAD song as a class duet
Reviewed the ideas of stepping vs. skipping and playing some different patterns. We will look for these patterns in the music while playing to help build our note reading skills!
Reviewed some songs on pages 7-9
Learned how to correctly hold the bow on a PENCIL. Make sure you hold the pencil in your RIGHT hand! Review the instructions found in your book on page 7 and watch the helpful videos below!
(Happy Hollow students only, Loker and Claypit received last week) Received a note reading sheet which reminded us that notes can live on a line or in a space, and as they step up they climb the ladder (alternate between space and line). See last week's post to find the attachments in case you need to print a new one!
review #21 & 22 + pencil bow hold practice + finish note reading sheet if needed
Try the playalongs below, just for fun! Can you stay with the beat?
