Hello 3rd graders!
This week in lessons we will:
Warm up with a scale in "Dog Chase the Cat" rhythm
Practice reading some notes with some of these online flashcards! How many can you read?
Review #89 Bile 'em Cabbage down. We will review both the A and B parts and then try them together. We also might watch the amazing video of Mark O'Connor performing it (look at the post from a few weeks ago if you want to watch it again!) and learn about the idea of improvisation. Then we will learn how we can make it our own by improvising which notes we play! See the handout below if you lost yours, and practice it at home mixing up the notes to see how it sounds!
Review #88 (Frere Jacques), 2 measures at a time, echo after the leader. We will have students get to try leading each part, then will perform the whole song together!
Look at #91, Lightly Row. Remember months ago when we plucked it? This week can you learn both of the "A" (melody) lines for this harder version!?
If time, we'll also start hearing some purple belt tryouts for Ode to Joy!
The assignment for next week is:
Really master #88, 89 and 91 part A. If you would like an extra challenge, try #91 part B!
Keep practicing your note reading with your flashcards! Or, if you want to try some note reading online for fun, play the "Name That Note" game below (scroll down)!
Remember to turn in your March Madness practice calendar next week -- add up the minutes and get it signed!
