Hi 3rd graders!
Hope you had a wonderful February break! Here's what we did in class this week:
Practiced our note reading a bit as a class by playing some short unlabeled patterns together
Learned how to read a new rhythm (eighth notes) on pg. 20 of our book
Played a D scale with different rhythms using eighth and quarter notes
Reviewed Twinkle Variations and in some classes heard green belt tryouts
Received a new Ode to Joy which has two other parts (harmonies - attached below) that can be played with the melody. We tried Harmony 1 together in class with the main tune after reviewing the melody a bit together
Reviewed Golden Grove, which students received before break (go back to Lesson 19 and print please if you missed it!) Also check out last week's blog post to practice Ode to Joy with the piano recording if you haven't tried it yet!
Practice assignment:
Ode to Joy (melody & harmonies). Review Twinkle Variations and Golden Grove
And finally: March starts on Saturday! That means it's time for Strings March Madness! Don't forget to log your minutes on the practice calendar. If you need to print a new one, see below!
