Hi 3rd graders! Here's a reminder of what we did this week.
prepared for our "3rd Grade Informance" (for classes that met beforehand)
some classes reviewed the notes we had started labeling for Old Macdonald! See last week's post if you need help or want to check your answers. (Look at the top of the page -- under "elementary strings," choose "3rd grade")
Discussed how to prepare our bows for strings! We reviewed the parts of the bow, learned how to tighten the screw to playing position (righty tighty, just a few turns) and how to rosin our bows. Then, we found a part of the bow called the balance point, formed our bow holds there, and did some bow games on the real bow! We also reviewed where the bow should play on the string: the "bow highway" is between the bridge and the fingerboard. The bow should never cross the fingerboard
Some students who completed their Bow Hold Learner's Permit (and got it signed by an adult at home) received their Bow License!!
Try to FINISH YOUR BOW PERMIT if you have not already so you can get your license!
