Hello 3rd Graders!
This week, we will:
Warm up with a D scale in various rhythms and in a round
Review Frere Jacques, then try it in a 2-part round!
Work on note reading and note writing using white boards
Review Lightly Row (#91), part A. By now you should have practiced and labeled the A lines. Most of it is basically what you already learned way back in December, on page 8 of the book. The only new parts are measures 5 and 6. Can you find measure 5? Notice it starts on an E, repeats five times, then steps up.
Measure 5: E E E E E F# G
Measure 6: same thing, but one step higher: F# F# F# F# F# G A
REMEMBER: when a note repeats, DON'T label it over and over again! The goal is to start looking at the notes themselves and not always the letters you label them with.
Listen to some blue karate belt performances of "Ode To Joy." If you can still play it, you know you really learned it!
Practice Bile 'em Cabbage Down and review how to use the improvisation sheet!
Your assignment for next week is:
Make sure you have really learned Frere Jacques, Bile 'em Cabbage Down (try the improv sheet, choosing new notes every time you play it!), and Lightly Row part A! If you are ready for more, please learn/label Lightly Row part B.
