1. That learning be done in a meaningful context relevant to your child’s
life and that there is a
balance between practice and instruction.
2. To help enable your children to become independent, self regulating, self
motivating, and
responsible learners. This classroom is not run in a teacher directed
manner. I encourage
children to explore what they are interested in, and create opportunities and
structure for them to do
that.
3. I want to encourage and facilitate cooperation and problem solving in
both the academic and
social areas.
4. Most of all I wish to create a community where your child feels safe, and
feels free to take risks
both socially and academically. This is when real learning is able to occur.
Our classroom is a place where children can learn, be encouraged to
try their hardest at whatever it is they are doing and have fun. Students
are reminded to recognize the fact that we have different brains in our classroom.
Cooperative learning and partner work enables students to
access curriculum in a stimulating environment.
