Why a spiral?

Writing is a recursive process. That means that we cycle through our ideas, words, and constructions over and over again, each time trying to improve upon the last. Writers create in a way that is not linear, or even predictable, as they make sense of what they are trying to say. A conference at the writing center just moves you one step closer to your target: the very center of your expression.
