Bus Group Names & Itineraries

Click on each bus group name to access the itinerary for that bus. Buses will line up in this order for Wednesday's departure:

Bus 1: Starfish

Bus 2: Cod Squad

Bus 3: Sharks

Med Form & Emergency Contact

Med forms will be distributed to students Friday, May 3rd. It is imperative that you complete these forms with the most accurate information as possible. If your child takes ANY over the counter or prescription medication, it must be documented. Students can not carry any medication -- even allergy or vitamins or Tylenol. Students who have EpiPens or inhalers prescribed may carry them on their person if it is documented on the Med Form.

*** If your child takes, or even sometimes takes, allergy medication, we advise you to document it and send it -- as it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it ***

If your child did not bring a Med Form/Emergency Contact home, you may access a copy here.

Pick-Up/Drop Off

Drop-Off, May 22nd: Student do NOT need to come to school early on Wednesday. They can arrive on their bus, or you can drop them off around 7:30 am. If you are dropping your child off on Wednesday, please use the first parking lot and DO NOT use the bus drop-off lane. You will see signs with bus group names, and your child should find their bus group to drop their belongings off on the curb.

Pick Up, May 24th: Buses return to WMS by around 4:00 pm. PLEASE BE WAITING for your child. The reunion is an emotional time for kids, and it works best when you are there to welcome your child back. It also makes for some wonderful photo opportunities:-)

Are you planning on staying on the Cape for Memorial Day Weekend?

If yes, you may meet up with your child on Friday, May 24th, before we head back to WMS.

Meet Up Location: Town Neck Beach, Sandwich (Wood Ave.)

When: Friday, May 24th at 1:00 pm

***In order to account for all students, please contact your child's homeroom or bus group leader via email to let him/her know. Please include: Who is picking up your child, relationship to child, and the best phone number to contact the pick up person. If someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up your child, we need written consent from the parent/guardian***

What to Pack?!?!

This is a suggested list of items. Please consult the weather to determine the best clothing items for your child's needs.

Packed bags should be able to be carried by your child. Not all cabins have pavement access for wheeled bags.

Swimsuits are for the shower house. Students will not be swimming on the trip. Flip flops are also for the showers, so they should be the type able to get wet.

Food: A packed lunch is needed for Wednesday. If your child needs a snack during each of the days, they should be brought from home. There is not refrigerator access.

Prohibited items will be confiscated and students may have additional consequences. If you need to contact your child, please call the school during school hours and they will reach us, or email their house leader.

Cape Cod Night

When: Tuesday, June 11th at 7:00 pm

Where: Wayland Middle School auditorium and cafeteria

Cape Cod Information Night Slide Show

2019 CC Parent Info Night Presentation

As Rachel Carson wrote in The Sense of Wonder:

"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder .. [s/]he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in."

Rachel Carson may be most famous for Silent Spring, but it is her book "A Sense of Wonder" that is the most meaningful to the members of the seventh grade team. In this book, Rachel shares with the reader her own joy and excitement as she watches her young nephew experience the discovery of the wonders of nature.

Throughout the 7th grade year, we work to provide opportunities for students to sharpen their skills as observers, to deepen their appreciation of nature and to strengthen their awareness of the world around them. During the spring semester our life science curriculum focuses on marine ecology.

For more than 30 years the 7th grade staff has organized and implemented a co-curricular field experience on Cape Cod. Our three-day adventure at the Cape allows students to apply what they know to a real-life setting. Students have the chance to explore first hand a fragile coastal environment and see the results of the forces of nature and the impact of humankind. A major goal of the Rachel Louise Carson House is to prepare students to become adults who are keenly aware of the fragility of our environment and to be future decision makers on environmental issues.
