Tryout learning sessions consists of a lot of teaching. Before any type of cheer activity, everyone stretches as a group. Both of our coaches will be teaching skills and technique in cheers, a dance, jumps, and stunts, to prepare for our upcoming tryout! Open mats are optional but highly recommended. It gives you the chance to get ahead on learning new skills that will help you in tryouts!
All tryout learning sessions are mandatory, open mats remain optional. Tryouts will consist of three days including two tryout learning sessions and the official team tryout. Cheerleaders will learn a short dance, a variety of cheers, jumps, and stunting skills. Everyone trying out will be judged based on their memory and performance quality as well as their demonstration of various cheerleading skills.
No cheerleader is guaranteed a spot on the team and all returning members are up for re-evaluation. Having prior cheer experience is not required!
We hope to see you at both our open mats and tryouts.
Attending open mats are a great way to learn more about our program and enhance your all-around cheerleading skills!
While attending open mats are optional, it is HIGHLY recommended! Open mats are a great opportunity for potential cheerleaders to start gaining new skills in advance for tryouts.
Cheerleaders gain more one-on-one time with coaches before the tryout process even begins. They also give you the opportunity to start connecting with potential new teammates! Skills that will be available to work on at open mats are cheers, jumps, and stunts.
A Nathan Hale Cheerleader is the sole embodiment of showing Husky Pride! As a cheerleader, you are held to a high standard both socially and academically. It is a cheerleader's job to set a good example while showing school spirit at a variety of school events.
When we aren't cheering at football or basketball games, we prepare to compete at a variety of competitions throughout Wisconsin. The team will begin their competition season by attending an NCA Instructional Skills Camp. The team competes each February for an opportunity to advance to the State Competition!
