Our hypothesis was that the boys would have the highest lung capacity and the band players would also have higher lung capacity. However, our hypothesis was wrong as girls actually had a higher lung capacity than boys and the girls band players had the lowest lung capacity average in the test. This lab taught us that gender can affect someones lung capacity and that playing a band instrument may or may not affect someones lung capacity. Scientific studies done before on this show that typically men have higher lung capacitys than women and that playing a band instrument has no clear effect.
