Dear 7th Grade Parent/Guardian:
As an 8th grade student, completing one semester of Health class is a requirement for high school. This Health class counts as a high school credit and each student will receive this grade on their high school transcript. Health class is offered in-person at Wauseon Middle School all year, but additionally it is offered online through our Wauseon Virtual Academy (WVA) for students who signed up for multiple elective classes. Your student has chosen multiple elective classes, preventing them from taking the Health class in-person. The completion of this online Health course is the responsibility of the student and it must be completed in the first semester. If the student does not complete and/or pass the course in the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, they will be placed in an in-person class second semester and removed from one of the elective classes. On the back of this page, I have included the WVA Health 8 instructions and expectations. Please discuss with your student and return the form signed if you would like them to be enrolled in WVA Health 8. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you!

8th Grade Online Health Instructions
This Health course is 100% self paced and online. You can go as fast as you want, but you can’t go as slow as you want.
A Teacher is NOT assigned to the course. You are responsible for staying on pace and completing all assignments.
If you do not pass the online course, you will drop one of your other electives and be enrolled in the regular Health classroom during the 2nd semester.
All communication will be done by email. Check your email daily!
The course settings are set to give an automatic zero for any past due assignments. You can still do the assignments without penalty. The zero will stay in the gradebook until the assignment is completed. If past due assignments are included in the finalized/stored quarter grade, the quarter grade will NOT change. The completed work will count towards your final Semester grade.

Password = Same password you use to login to your Chromebook
Click on the course title to view pacing dates.
Click “Work on this course”, to start working or to pick up where you left off.
WVA Health counts the same on your GPA and transcript as any High School course taken in person.
Your Quarter grades will be used to determine your athletic eligibility.
Multiple Choice courses like Health have gated, graded assignments. You must get a 60% before being allowed to move on. Checkpoint Assess-It Quizzes have unlimited attempts, Mastery Assess-It Tests have 2 attempts to get the 60%. If you need more attempts, email Mr. Britsch. I will allow additional attempts as needed.
Email Mr. Britsch, mbritsch@wauseonindians.org, with any questions.
Please return this form signed by both parent/guardian and student if you would like to take Health 8 through Wauseon Virtual Academy (WVA).
