Beginning Band Information
Band 2020 Information
For those of you who have COMPLETED a virtual instrument fitting, you are all set to take care of acquiring an instrument. Resources for helping you acquire an instrument and supplies will be updated soon on our class website. An email will be sent to you when all links are ready to go. If you need financial assistance, please contact Teri Reible at 608-849-2000. We will not exclude any students from our music program due to financial concerns.
For those of you who have not completed an instrument fitting yet, we are not going to be able to provide any in person fittings due to current health guidelines. We will be completing all fittings virtually. We will be in contact with you soon to set up a time that will work with you and your family, and explain more details about the virtual fitting process. If you would like an in person fitting, you can make an appointment with Rob Smith (rsmith@ward-brodt.com) at Ward-Brodt music. He is willing to do a limited number of in person fittings at their store in Fitchburg.
We are hoping to have all fittings scheduled and completed by July 31st. This is to give us time to prepare for the school year. All students who have scheduled their conference by July 31st (even if it takes place later) will be able to play their first choice of instrument in band this year, as long as it is an appropriate fit for your student. If you have not scheduled a fitting by July 31st, we can not guarantee that your student’s first choice of instrument will be available for the balance of the band.
Summer Band Camp
If Dane County Health protocols allow, we are hoping to have a short “Band Camp” from August 10-13 at the Intermediate School. This would allow us to distribute instruments and supplies, and teach students how to assemble instruments and produce the first few notes/sounds. Please know that this is NOT OFFICIALLY SCHEDULED at this point, and we are unsure if it will be able to happen due to the changing health landscape. We are hoping that all families will be able to participate, but no student will be excluded from the band if they are not.
We know you may have many questions regarding this entire process. Feel free to reach out to any of the music teachers below with questions, especially regarding any instrument purchases you may be interested in making. Thank you for your patience as we try to figure this all out!
