Mr. Wiley

Mr. Wiley is the 8th grade choir director at Waukee Prairieview! At Prairieview he teaches all 8th grade choirs, instructs group voice lessons, and directs the 8th grade show choir, REVOLUTION. He serves as the assistant show choir director for EOS and AURORA show choirs at Northwest Waukee High School. This year he is the music director of the musical at Northwest High School. In past years, he has served as assistant director of Millennium & Spirit show choirs and the music director for Urinetown and Shrek: The Musical at Waukee High School.

Prior to coming to Waukee, he was an assistant show choir director at Johnston High School. He is proud to have worked with great students and colleagues in his current & past positions, who have worked hard to achieve many best vocals, best band, and best choreography caption awards. In addition to teaching experience, he has held positions as an arts administrator both in New York City and Des Moines. Mr. Wiley has worked on the staff at The Broadway League for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (Jimmy Awards)  in New York City and has worked for several years on the program staff of the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards, a program of Des Moines Performing Arts.

He is a magna cum laude graduate of Drake University with a Bachelors in Music Education (K-12 certification). Mr. Wiley is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Iowa Choral Directors Association, and National Association for Music Education. 

In addition to his work with schools, he has worked as a music director/conductor for musical productions & theatre camps. Recently, he was the associate conductor for the Drake University Dept. of Theatre Arts production of Nice Work If You Can Get It and served as a music director for the ChildServe Bubble Ball Gala.

Beyond teaching, Mr. Wiley enjoys cooking and traveling. Current favorite music includes Lawrence, Sammy Rae, Ben Rector, Cody Fry, and Lizzo.
