A multi-day conference and summer course that will explore the origins, global influence, and ongoing relevance of the Declaration of Independence. Scholars, educators, students, and the public will engage with the philosophical, political, faith-based, and cultural legacy of 1776 through lectures, panels, trips,and public events.

The conference will include a guided tour of Monticello, home of Declaration author Thomas Jefferson, trips to DC for event related to America at 250, and more.

Sligo Church will host a special church service and afternoon event on the 4th of July.
The goal of this event is to use Washington, DC as a base for celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This educational event and conference is part of an academic course taught at the WAU Honors College and can be used by educators for continue education. We also welcome the general public to hear from experts and participate in on-location learning.
