Reporting absences
You must report any absence to us. The easiest way to do this is through the Studybugs app but you can also call the school on 01582 662232 or email us office@watlinglower.org.uk.
The link between attendance and achievement is clear the graphic on the right is data released by the Department for Education recently released from their findings into the link between attendance and attainment for pupils at the end of Year 6. It has shown a clear correlation between attendance and how well children achieve in school. For every 5% drop in attendance, fewer children reached the expected standard at the end of KS2.

Right now, a family with young children in your community struggles alone with sickness, disability, mental ill-health, isolation, bereavement, and more. You can make a lasting difference in their lives. You don't need any special qualifications, just real-life experience caring for children. You just need a couple of hours available on a week day, once a week. The time is flexible to suit you.
Our local volunteers are parents, grandparents, and caregivers from all walks of life who want to help others. Join us today because childhood can’t wait. Visit www.home-startbedfordshire.org.uk and get in touch. We would love to speak to you!
The Community Safety Partnership, Safer Central, would like to hear your views on how safe you feel in your area. You can help shape the work of Safer Central by sharing your views and completing the Safer Central Community Survey. We know that no one knows better what is happening locally, and with the information you can provide we can work together to make a difference, creating a safer environment for everyone.
Your opinions really do make a difference to help us focus our work where our residents want to see improvements.

On Wednesday 17th September, we sent our Year 3 and 4 girls football team to a local event at Creasey Park. Obviously it was just for fun and to help develop the girls' skills and confidence in the game but they also won 5 out of the 6 games that they played. Very well done to them all:
Year 4 - Seren, Pippa, Rosie, Sienna and Orla
and
Year 3 - Evie, Ivy, Gigi and Isabella
Tomorrow, Wednesday 24th September, is the National Fitness Day and children from Year R to Year 4 will be taking part in a sponsored run and other fun sporting activities. On the day, your child can wear sporty non-uniform. You could come dressed as a favourite sports person or just your own sporty clothes. As long as you are ready to run in it, you'll be fine.
Thank you in advance for all of the sponsorship and it all goes to the Friends of Watling who are working tirelessly to put on so many great events this term and for the rest of the year.
On Friday 26th September, we will be hosting our Macmillan Coffee Morning to raise money for the vital work that the charity does in supporting those with cancer. Please come along and enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea) and a slice of cake and help us raise as much as we can. We offer take-out for those who need to get away quickly.
