Variable Speed Technology: Unlike standard heat pumps that run at full capability all the time, Trane's variable speed designs change their operating speed to match the existing need. This results in optimal comfort levels and efficiency.
Inverter-Driven Compressor: The heart of the Trane variable speed heat pump is the inverter-driven compressor. An inverter changes single phase 240 volt power into variable frequency and variable voltage to adjust the speed and horsepower of the motor. This allows the system to constantly regulate its thermal output, delivering precise heating and cooling throughout the day.
Advanced Climate Control: With the ability to make micro-adjustments, these heat pumps maintain constant indoor temperature AND humidity levels, minimize temperature variations, and produce a more comfortable living environment.
Quiet Operation: Trane's variable speed heat pumps are developed for quiet performance, guaranteeing minimal noise disturbance inside and outside the home.
Boosted Energy Efficiency: By running at the exact speed needed to maintain comfort, these heat pumps use less energy than traditional systems. This not just lowers your carbon footprint but also leads to reduce utility costs.
Enhanced Indoor Air Quality: Better humidity control results in reduced mold problems. Longer run time and variable speed blowers increase the effectiveness of install IAQ accessories such and air cleaners, humidifiers, and UV-C air purifiers.
Rugged Reliability: With less stopping and starting and advanced systems monitoring, Trane variable speed heat pumps have fewer breakdowns. Like other Trane systems, their variable speed, inverter-driven heat pumps are built to last.
Variable speed, inverter-driven heat pumps represent a substantial leap forward in HVAC innovation, combining cutting edge engineering with environmental stewardship. Whether you're updating your home's outdated HVAC system or building a new home, Trane products assure comfort, efficiency, and reliability.
Trane XV20i Heat Pump - The XV20i is their flagship, achieving up to 20.5 SEER2 and 8.70 HSPF2, 750 stages of cooling, and their patented WeatherGuard top. The XV20i is compatible with both Trane Comfortlink2 and Link control systems.
Trane XV18 Heat Pump - The functional components of the Trane XV18 are identical to the XV20i (same compressor, fan, and inverter). To make the system more affordable, Trane removed the WeatherGuard top and reduced the size of the Spine-fin condenser coil. This lowers its efficiency to 18.0 SEER2 and 8.50 HSPF2 - still a dramatic improvement over traditional systems. Like the XV20i, the XV18 is compatible with Trane Link and backwards compatible with ComfortLink2.
Trane XV17 Heat Pump - The XV17 was designed to precisely target the minimum specifications required to achieve the federal tax credit. It is similar to the XV18 but has only 75 stages and a cooling efficiency of 17.0 SEER2. The XV17 is compatible only with Trane Link controls. Click here to read more about the XV17 heat pump.
