North School News
Caregivers;
Things are rolling along at North, with students learning all sorts of things. While we were able to get outside at the end of the week, the puddles make it difficult to play as much as the they would like. Here's hoping of a few days to dry things out and give us back all of our playground. Behaviors were still a bit elevated this week, especially at lunch and at the end of the day. Our first priority is student safety and It's difficult to do that when we are seeing so much running, jumping and roughhousing.
This is going to be a quick week at North, with 2 full days, an Early Release and a half day. Please check the schedule below for the plan for the week. When we get back from Spring Break, the 5th graders start us off with MSTEP. The entire testing schedule is posted below. Please look ahead and try to avoid absences on days your student is testing.
Sciene Olympiad will NOT practice this week becuase of the Early Release, which gives them one more practice on April 8th, before the big day on April 10th.
Check below for information about a baseball clinic held by our Varsity Baseball team and their coaches.
Our Capturing Kid's Hearts focus this month is on Courage. Having the Courage to be yourself. To stand up to people. To do the right thing. This is a flyer attached to the bottom of this newsletter that will give you some ideas on conversations you could have with your students to support what we are doing here in school.
Just a reminder - we go outside for recess until the feels-like temperature is under 15 degrees. Please make sure your students bring appropriate clothing to be outside for 30 minutes. We have a few items that can be borrowed, but students need to bring their own coats and boots. If you need help getting winter clothes, please contact myself or Mrs. Davis.
Please note the the back parking lot is for staff parking and GRSP (preschool) drop off and pick up. It is not intended for pick up for 3-5 students. If you are in that parking lot, there is a good chance you will get blocked in. Preschool parents and staff have the right of way, and you will be asked to move if you are stopping those groups from getting where they need to be.
Please remember that we have added a section to our handbook that asks students not to bring coffee or energy drinks to school. If your student brings one to school, it will be left in the office until the end of the day. Thank you for your support in providing healthy choices for our kiddos.
Thank you for trusting us with your children.

BUZZ IN SYSTEM
As we strive to make North School as safe as possible, please be aware that we utilize a "Buzz-In" system for all visitors. All people are asked to come to the front door and follow the procedure below:
Please press the button and wait for someone in the office to respond.
If you’re signing out your student, the sign out sheet will be available inside the first set of doors.
If you’re needing to come inside the office for any reason, office staff will buzz you in the second set of doors.
Please note that the front doors will lock at 7:50 am, anyone arriving after that time will have to use the new system.
