Caregivers;

What a great day we had on Thursday.  The costumes are always so fun and creative.  I'm glad the weather held off for our parade and Trick or Treating.  Some of my favorite memories are spending Halloween with my own children, and going around the neighborhoods in town.  Everyone is so generous with the amount of candy they provide.

November is going to be a busy month as well.  Next week, we will be having a Veteran's Day Celebration on Monday, as well as Donuts for Dudes.  The information for Veteran's Day is attached below, and your child should have brought home the form on Friday.

Donuts for Dudes:

Tuesday the 12th - 3rd grade

Wednesday the 13th - 4th grade

Thursday the 14th - 5th grade

We look forward to celebrate both the Veteran's in our children's' lives, as well as the awesome Dudes!

Mrs. Roland, our Behavior Interventionist, sent out a Rooms message about Cussing.  This is topic that comes up very frequently in our Round Tables.  Mrs. Roland has decided to work on this through both her Behavior Games and through a Clean Language Club.  I have added her message below in case you missed it.  Thank you for supporting us in this.

It is definitely fall in Michigan.  Please encourage your children to bring sweatshirts or coats to school in the morning.  Our recess are early enough that there is often still a chill in the air most days.

Fifth grade parents -BAND starts November 11th! If you were unable to attend the informational meeting, please click on the attached link for information.

Thank you for your support and trusting us with your students.

Lori Pline

North School Principal

Happy Friday!

As a part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) System our Behavior Games this week focused on reducing the use of profanity at North School. Students cussing was one of the issues that all three grades wanted to improve in Round Tables this month with Mrs. Pline.

Instead of focusing on negative consequences, we have started the Clean Speech Club. Students have the choice to join - they choose an accountability partner (another student) and take an oath: "I Pledge to speak respectfully. This is my oath that I will not use profanity in school or at home." This also enters them into a monthly drawing where 2 students per grade will be chosen to win a prize. Some students shared that a reason they may cuss is because someone at home cusses, so we have included you in the fun as well! We all need a little motivation to change sometimes (myself included), so your child may be bringing home a ticket for you to enter our drawing as well. If we have enough kids bring back parent tickets there will be grown-up prizes too!

We love that kids are enjoying these positive ways to improve themselves and hope you get in on the fun as well. If you would like to donate prizes that would be great too - just call the school and ask for me - Chris Roland.

Have a great weekend and thanks for partnering with us!
