On April 7, 2025 at a regularly scheduled Town Council meeting, the Town Council passed a motion to cut the recommended Board of Education by an additional - $2.5Million prior to sending the budget out to referendum. This deep reduction of - $2.5Million is in addition to the - $627,501 reduction already made by the Board of Education. As of today, next year’s FY 2025-2026 budget is set to be reduced by - $3,127,501 even before it goes out to referendum for residents to vote on in May.
With the deep reduction faced by the Board of Education, please note that the upcoming Public Hearing set for Tuesday, April 22, 2025 is an opportunity for Watertown residents to share their views about the FY 2025-2026 budget to the Town Council during public comment. In addition, as soon as the Town Council releases the email address for public hearing comments, residents of Watertown will be able to send in written testimony for the Town Council to read prior to the evening of the Public Hearing.
