Volunteering Opportunities
June 2023
Teen Volunteer Summer Program - Medical Field opportunities
Samaritan Medical Center is looking for a “few good volunteers.”
This would be an excellent experience for students looking towards a medical career as well as a wonderful way to give back to the community. The medical field is an exciting and diverse one, which holds many different experiences for a student. They have had volunteers in the respiratory, maternity, nursing floors, information desk, storeroom, information technology and the nursing home– just to mention a few. Many colleges are looking for volunteer hours as a requirement for admission- another good reason to volunteer. Becoming a Samaritan Volunteer might be a good fit for students interested in a hospital or a nursing home setting.
Requirements of the potential teen volunteers in order to participate in the program:
Must be a minimum of 13 years of age
Available for the full 6 weeks during July and August
Meet with Mrs. Bradbury, Manager of Volunteer Services for an interview, write and turn in your essay and teacher recommendation
Complete a health screening which includes a TB test and copy of current immunization records, before you can volunteer
Have all paperwork and physical completed by the deadline of June 26, 2023.
The program runs for 6 weeks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
There is a mandatory one day orientation for all summer teens to attend on June 29th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Please see the application, a letter with more information for interested students, as well as the teacher recommendation form below.
If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Bradbury at (315)785-4479 or by email, abradbury@shsny.com
