STEMKAMP is a 5-day summer STEM camp for current 5th - 8th graders which provides three days of hands-on, minds-engaged, low-tech STEM activities, one day of a field experience and a final Family Day where parents and community partners come together to provide a climactic ending to the STEMKAMP week. STEMKAMP employs and trains local teachers and high school students in STEM methodology to prepare them to lead the camp activities. This will be a full-day program.
WCSD is a sub-recipient of a grant with the Dept of Defense for STEMKAMP. While the program will focus on military kids to ignite a passion for STEM-related careers in their future, non-military connected students may also participate.”
The traditional, in operation since 2017, Summer STEM Camp programming will continue with 2 two-week sessions, serving grades 2-4. The two-week STEM Camp programs will run from approximately 12-3 p.m.

A CoMM (Communications on Multiple Media) Camp serving students in grades 6-9 will be held July 21-25, 2025. This program will involve training students on communications involving a variety of media.
Staff will gather to define and plan activities which may include writing, the arts, digital communications, visual communications, video production, theatrical performance, music, poetry, digital literacy, and more. The activities will focus on improving communications skills and knowledge of our students applying strategies that are fun and engaging. Details regarding the hours of this program are in development.
What is Bridging?
The WCSD Cyclones Aboutface! Bridging Program is a one-week, half-day, DoDEA grant-funded program designed to serve students currently in grades 4, 6, and 8, as they transition to new grade levels in unfamiliar school buildings. Bridging programs are important in easing student transition and supporting academic and social success.
A bridging program is in development for students transitioning from PreK to K. Stay tuned for registration details for this new program!
Bridging will result in the establishment of meaningful connections while providing a helpful start to the coming school year. In these programs, students will be provided with an orientation to the new school setting and program activities will be focused on building motivation, study skills, and relationships with peers and teachers. Mathematics will be a special area of focus in this program. Students will participate in engaging math learning activities to boost readiness for learning math in the coming school year.
