Aligning Digital fluency and digital citizenship with educational standards

New York adopted the K12 Computer Science & Digital Fluency Learning Standards in 2020. These 5 stands of digital fluency include digital citizenship. What are the standards? How do they align with other standards such as ISTE & AASL? We will go over connections between digital citizenship standards & suggestions to incorporate them in the classroom.

NYS Computer Science & Digital Fluency Standards in K-1

New York State has charged schools with local decision making in implementation of the new Computer Science & Digital Fluency Standards. While developing stand-alone computer science course(s) is an option, the standards were written for integration into other subject areas. The purpose of this session is to equip educators with information and strategies to implement the K-1 CS standards. We will share an overview of the K-1 standards, rollout timeline, and share standards-based lessons and activities curated by New York educators to integrate CS & DF across disciplines.

We will dig into the standards with ideas and resources for how to teach then to your class.

Standards Made Easy! Unpacking The NYS Computer Science & Digital Fluency Standards with Teachers

Are you an educator that read the New York State K-12 Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards and became completely lost? So were we! Fortunately, months of researching the standards has provided our group with a new understanding of the essential components to get administrators and teachers to start thinking about implementation. In this session, participants will learn about the key components and overview of the New York State Standards Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards. Resources will be provided to introduce this topic to other educators in your building or PLN!
