Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Mrs. Kelly Connell and I look forward to working with you and your students this year.
As a teacher in the 12:1:2 program, I provide emotional and academic support to students. I assist students through crisis intervention and problem solving. I collaborate with students, families, and teachers to ensure students are comfortable and successful in school.
We have two 12:1:2 classrooms here at the high school. Ms. Angel is our other teacher. Ms. Wright, Mr. Passage, and Mr. Kenney are the Teacher Assistants. Ms. Hallenbeck is a 1:1 aide. Ms. Yancey is our School Counselor.
Our goal is to help each student build both academic and emotional strategies and skills to become independent learners, both in school and once they move past high school. I believe that students should take an active role in their own academic progress and success. We are here to offer support, guidance, and academic assistance, while encouraging, empowering and expecting students to be responsible for their daily class participation and assignment completion.
Students should come to school prepared with a book bag, binders, dividers (for binders), folders, loose leaf paper, pencils, and pens. We will help students organize their folders and binders here at school to ensure they are prepared for their classes. If you have difficulty obtaining any of the needed materials, please let me know so we can help.
I welcome and encourage communication from students and families. I am easily reached through email: kconnell@watertowncsd.org, or by phone: (315) 785-3810.
Thank you for helping your son/daughter be prepared for the start of the school year. I look forward to communicating with you in hopes of creating a strong parent-teacher team that will demonstrate to your high school student that we care about his/her well-being and success in the remaining years of school.
