Homework Expectations

Monday- Thursday students will have homework.

Friday night students will have the night off from homework except for special projects.

Nightly Homework:

Read 30 minutes

Math worksheet

Spelling Packet given out on Monday due on Friday

Nightly practice on Xtra Math, Prodigy, or IXL for about 10 minutes

Sometimes students will have a social studies map packet or a science packet.

What parents can do to help:

Please check your student's agenda each night. Once you see that they have completed their homework please sign the agenda.

Make sure to check over their math, and if there is a question wrong you can circle it and challenge your student to check it over.

Help them with their weekly spelling by quizzing them on their words or having them use their words in sentences.

There are many ways to help them with their reading and we'll send home more suggestions as the year goes on. One important way to help them is to read with them and ask them questions about what they are reading. Talk to them about books and help them develop a love of reading. Don't worry too much about timing their reading, some nights they might read for an hour and other nights 15 minutes. As long as it all evens out over the week. Too much timing can damage their love of reading.

If you need to leave us any note about something they had difficulty with, a question you have, pick up or drop off, or if there is just something you want us to know, there is a spot next to your signature in the agenda.
