The Film Fest Has Concluded!
I have always been interested in film, however, I had never seen the true power and influence the medium can have, until I took an academic course on film last year. Since then, I have been incredibly fascinated by film and the significance it has in our culture. Now, with this film to start creating. festival, I am presented with the opportunity to create and publish my own films, and I am eager
One of my favorite films is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. A hilarious romp through a peculiar medieval world, the Holy Grail lends itself completely to the comedic situations that the characters find themselves in. It is a timeless film, incredibly quotable, and is one of my favorite films simply because of its comedic and lighthearted attitude.
My interest in film is a more recent finding. I have always loved acting, but only recently started focusing on other aspects of films and film making. It truly amazes me how many people help to make a film. There are oh so many jobs that go into making these wonderful pieces of art. I love watching films and not just seeing the story, but also watching camera angles and noticing choices that the director(s) made. Listening to the soundtrack and seeing what it adds to a scene. And feeling true amazement when I see some special effects.
Movie that I love: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This book series was my favorite growing up. I read this book over and over again. I saw this movie more recently, but it brought me back into this magical world with amazing visuals. The colors of the film always felt just right. The magical creatures looked wonderful. And even though I knew the story, I was roped back in with curiosity of what would happen next.
Music in film has always been the thing I pay the most attention to when I watch a movie. I have been waiting for quite some time for an opportunity to make films purely to learn how to incorporate music to convey an emotion, a message, or to control the mood of a scene.
My favorite movie has to be Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Half the reason I love this movie so much is the nostalgic value, and the other half is made up of the masterful use of the ability to move a camera in this movie, and, of course, the music.
I think that filmmaking is a wonderful way to tell a story through, and with art. Many of my favorite films bring beautiful stories to life with well thought out shots, wonderful color-ways, and beautiful settings. It is interesting to see how a good film can transport you into a world that is completely forgin. The reason I enjoy film making is to chase that feeling.
My favorite movie of all time is “The Royal Tenenbaums” directed by Wes Anderson. I love all of Wes Anderson's movies, however The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite of them all. It is shot perfectly and the story is mesmerizing and warm. It is tracked perfectly and every scene is shot without flaw.
I have always loved and been interested in films, especially the soundtrack, setting, characters, and fashion side of cinema. I haven’t necessarily thought about pursuing my interest in film until I got put into this film class. I have started to explore cinematography and my interest in the subject has grown!
The movie Waves, directed by Trey Edward Shultz is by far one of my favorite films. I’m drawn in by its emotional plot that gets you attached to characters. It also has an amazing soundtrack. I think I'm overall most attracted to the aesthetics of this film.
I’ve always loved riding and music. This love inspired me to begin making short clips of riding to music, known as an edit. After a couple months of making edits, I eventually made my first short film called ‘The Reality of Riding’. I created a videography account on Instagram for our barn’s team in 2018 to have a great platform to showcase the edits. I love how music can take a normal video and add emotion or create a certain feeling for the audience watching.
When I first saw Now You See Me 2, it caught and held my attention the entire time. This movie is about magic used in deceiving ways and revolves around manipulation. I love how the plot isn’t predictable and it has a twist at the end. The music to this film is similar to the kind that you’d hear at a Las Vegas show. It becomes associated with the feeling you get after you realize the magician has tricked you!
I have always been interested in film, but as I’ve gotten older and have taken various courses on filmmaking/ film literacy and history, my passion for the process of making and learning about film has only grown. I went to a filmmaking camp over the summer at the New York Film Academy in L.A, where I was able to learn from people who work in the industry and refine my skills.
Favorite Movie: Moonrise Kingdom is the perfect balance of quirky and heartwarming. It was one of the first movies that I saw that solidified my interest in film, and, no matter how many times I watch it, I can never get tired of it.
I began to love film making as a young girl when I was exposed to films such as The Dark Crystal, Princess Bride, and literally any and all Wes Anderson Movies. I remember watching some of these films 2 or 3 times in a row because the first time around didn't seem to do them justice. When taking a high school course titled, Cinema History & Literacy, I learned about the big ideas and critical thinking that came out of movies. This did not only spark my curiosity that seemed to be hidden deep down, but issued a want to be able to go deeper into my own understanding of cinema.
My favorite movie: The Kings of Summer, Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. This movie is tastefully nostalgic and reminiscent, with ideals and battles every child dreams of running into. It is a coming of age story that has adventure in mind and underlines what it truly means to be independent.
I've always been very interested in film and once I got into Jeff's filmmaking class, that's when I really found my passion for film. I have made several films and I think it has really impacted the way I see movies and media.
The Nightmare before Christmas is one of my favorite films. I love the soundtrack by Danny Elfman. I also appreciate how the director, Tim Burton portrays all the different emotions with his use of color and his direction of the characters. The film uses a wide variety of shots to tell the story of Jack and Sally. In the end,I like how Burton can change the mood so drastically but yet make it seem so subtle. I highly recommend this film for all how havent seen it.
I fell in love with cinema and filmmaking as a kid after seeing blockbuster movies like Star Wars, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, and Jaws. These movies had an impact on me that lasted long after the movie house lights came up. I started making fun and action-packed movies with my friends. I then was introduced to film history and filmmaking in college where I completed my MFA in film at Ohio University.
Favorite Movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark. This movie is simply a fun, thrill ride from beginning to end and never fails to pull me into the mystery and adventure no matter how many times I watch it.
