History

Central Middle School has run an after-school game club since 2019, starting with a Warhammer club.

Then in 2020, the planet failed its Fortitude Save and COVID sent us virtual with no extracurricular clubs or activities. In 2021 we came back to school and started a D&D Club, and also tried out The Quiet Year for some world-building.

In Spring 2023 we returned with Central Dungeon Crawlers Club, playing Dungeon Crawl Classics by Goodman Games and others compatible with their systems. Party members have a lot of fun with rolling funky dice, losing characters to brutal combats, bad rolls, or hilarious accidents, and quickly rolling up new PC's to take their place.

The DCC system works great for school clubs because returning players get to quickly grow their characters while newcomers can easily jump in if they want to try it out.  Not to mention the absolute chaos in the system and stories is a natural fit for middle school!

As a teacher and Judge, my goal is that kids get to harness their imagination and creativity to socialize, problem-solve, and create an immersive story while building relationships and connections to school.
