It's a busy day for shout outs in Lancer Nation:

First, a shout out of congratulation to McKenzie Gregory, who was selected as Waterford's first ECC Female Athlete of the week this school year for her performance in the goal over the past few weeks. Thank you Lancer Nation for supporting Waterford Student Athletes.

Second, a shout out of thanks to the cheer leaders for decorating pumpkins to line the route of last weekend's Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation charity walk, and to the Girls soccer team who formed a cheering section for participants in the walk.

Next, a shout out of thanks to all of the student and adults involved in planning and leading the Lancer Fair for Clark Lane 8th graders on Tuesday, in particular organizers Mrs. Baumgartner and Mrs White. Clark Lane principal Mr. Sachs reported to Mr. Hauser that the eight graders had a wonderful time and learned a lot about the high school, thanks to all of you.

And finally, a thank you to everyone involved in planning the College and Post Secondary Options Fair that closed the day on Tuesday. Organizing close to 120 different representatives, plus adding a presentation of manufacturing career training for the first time this year, is a huge task and school counseling director Mrs. O'Connor, the rest of her department, and the students and staff members who assisted in the process all deserve a shout out for making it all run so smoothly. Well done!!

October 7, 2019

A shout out to our teaching assistant principals Erica Baumgartner and Kelly White for organizing the Lancer Fair and welcoming the 8th graders from Clark Lane.

October 7, 2019

Our shout out this morning goes to softball player Rachel Miller, who has been selected by America's Team to be a member of the softball team representing the USA in Italy in July 2020. Rachel was selected based on her character, motivation and athletic ability. Other Lancer softball players nominated to play were Seniors Gina McKittrick and Madison Nott, Congratulation to you and good luck in Italy, Rachel!

Congratulations to Melina Santangelo for being appointed as the newest member of the Waterford Youth and Family Services Board. Melina joins Aldan Moger as your student representatives. She will be sworn in by First Selectman Dan Stewart. Congratulations Melina!

September 27, 2019

Our shout out today is to Mr. Arnold and Mr. Sherman, along with all of the Civics students who assisted them in planning yesterday's First Selectman's debate in the WHS library. You did a great job researching and composing thoughtful and comprehensive questions for the candidates, and the work you put into them was evident. And a huge thank you to the many students in the audience as well - as we always expect, you were a polite, interested, and attentive Lance Nation audience, and both candidates mentioned to Mr. Hauser after the debate that they were really impressed by all of you!

September 24, 2019

Our shout out today goes to senior volleyball player Ryleigh Gonyo, who has reached an astounding 103 kills after only 5 matches so far this season. Way to go Ryleigh!
