Dear Waterford High School Families,

I hope you are having a great week. Below are a few important updates and reminders for the week ahead.

All Parents Welcome

Our first Parents Advisory Coffee meeting of the school year is Wednesday, September 30, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. in the Library Reading Room. Please join the WHS administrative team for an hour of conversation, coffee, and connection. We will share some information about the start of the school year and upcoming events, and, as always, set aside time for your questions and feedback.

We will also be joined by Holly Saad, Director of School Counseling, who will share updates and helpful information related to the counseling program, including the school calendar and events, testing schedule, dual enrollment opportunities, and post-secondary planning. In addition, two student representatives from our Lancer Leadership Council will join us to share the student perspective on the first month of school and highlight some exciting events they have planned, including Spirit Week.

Lancer Community Night – Wednesday, October 7

We are excited to welcome all WHS families to our Lancer Community Night on Wednesday, October 7 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. This reimagined event is replacing our traditional back-to-school night and is designed to help you experience all that makes Waterford High School a special community. Throughout the evening, families will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, explore academic departments, connect with clubs, activities and athletic programs, view student work and performances, and meet community partners who support our students and families. Families will also visit their student’s Advisory classroom and connect with the teacher who serves as an important point of connection throughout the school year. To make the evening even more fun, families can participate in our Lancer Family Passport Challenge! As you explore the school and visit different stations throughout the night, you can collect passport stamps and complete the challenge for a chance to be entered into a drawing for Lancer Family Prize Packs.

There will be plenty to see, experience, and enjoy throughout the building whether your student is new to WHS or has been a Lancer for several years. We hope you will join us for an evening centered on connection, belonging, and celebrating the many opportunities available to our students.

The Class of 2027 Safe Grad is now in its 40th year! We will be raising money throughout the year to reach our goal. This fun overnight experience is only made possible with the support of our parents, community, and local businesses. Please consider helping out in any way you can.
