Going With the Flow
The Lancer landed on Long Island Bhamas
Welcome to the WHS website dedicated to our three drifters in the 2022-23 year.
If you would like to see where Lady Lance, The Lancer and the Drifter are, click the Live Updates link. For background on the boats, see each boat's link. The Lady Lance link will also give you an interactive map that will have the last 7 days of sensor data.
If you are looking for more data, check out the WHALECLAMS float. This is an ARGO float that WHS and CLMS adopted together in 2019 as part of SOCCOM (Southern Ocean Carbon and Climate Observations and Modeling). It was launched in the southern ocean between South Africa and Antarctica and is part of a network of thousands of floats that monitor key data for climate science.
Below will appear weekly summaries on the motions of our drifters. Students in ECE Marine Science will be describing the physics, chemistry, biology, geology and social aspects of the journeys of our drifters. Those descriptions will be at least a week behind as the students will need time to do analysis.
