Who can take CCP classes?Ā
Must be an 11th or 12th grade WHS student, or any grade WIA student
Have an unweighted GPA of 2.8 or higher
Are you a WIA student?Ā Ā Ā Ā
Check out the WIA website for more information regarding your CCCTI class options!Ā Ā
Verify you meet the CCC&TI CCP Eligibility requirements (the column to the left) to take CCC&TI classes
Meet with your school counselor to see if a CCC&TI placeholder would work for you (Ms. Brown cannot give placeholders or change your high school schedule)
Once CCC&TI placeholders are on your schedule, meet with Ms. Brown for an advising appointment to register
*If you have never taken a CCC&TI class before and you are eligible to take them, please fill out a CCC&TI CCP Application. This must be done before Ms. Brown can register you!
Students seeking access to community college coursework while in high school can only take classes within their chosen pathway. This may be a CTE certificate/diploma pathway or an Associate Transfer program. Slide through the pictures below to see the most commonly completed pathways by WHS/WIA students. A link to the full CCP offerings is included.
If you have an IEP or 504 plan, it does not apply to CCC&TI courses (or WIA courses). Students must go through a separate process with CCC&TI to set up accommodations for college courses. Please contact Blair Johnston, Counseling & Accessibility Services Counselor, at bjohnston@cccti.edu or 828.297.3811 x5263 to begin the process.
Some CCCTI CCP classes also count as high school graduation requirements.Ā
Different CCP CCCTI classes may carry different quality points. You can use the document below to find specific course information.
Watauga Innovation Academy (WIA) allows students to begin earning community college and high school credit beginning in 9th grade.Ā

Do I have to attend the orientation at the beginning of each semester?Ā
Yes, it is important and mandatory each semesterĀ
Are CCP classes free?Ā
Tuition is free for CCP studentsĀ
Students are responsible for student fees and textbooks if needed for each class
There are course fees (both for online and in-person courses)
Do I need a textbook? If so, where can I get it?Ā
Students are automatically enrolled in an e-book program called BibliU to access online textbooks if their course requires one. This has an $80 flat fee. If you would like to purchase a physical textbook on your own, you can opt out of BibliU. More information can be found here.
Do I have to log in to my online class at a certain time?Ā
Most online classes you only need to meet the deadline for turning in each assignment
CCCTI uses Moodle, a different online learning platform than WHS/WIA, so be sure to familiarize yourself with the system
It does log your time onlineĀ
If you are required to be on the computer at a specific time, your instructor will communicate that with you (make sure you are checking your CCCTI email daily)
Where does my class meet?Ā
Classes are offered online, hybrid (half online/ half seated in person), and seated in personĀ
During the Fall, MAT 171 and PSY 150 are sometimes offered seated in-person at WHS
This changes semester to semester - if you are interested, talkĀ to Ms. Brown
Various classes are offered seated in-person on the Watauga CCCTI campusĀ
Check with Ms. Brown for semester to semester availability
