"I joined the walkout because I don't want people to feel like they're alone," said Collin Troisi, a freshman at Watauga.
For many, the walkout was about showing friends and classmates that they are supported by the community.
"I personally know two people who have been deported, one of whom was here legally, and the other was an upstanding citizen, not a criminal, not a gang member like you keep hearing on the news," said Stephen Ardois, a senior at Watauga. "These are just people, people who are the backbone of the American system."
