Watauga Men's Tennis team played their first home game on March 7th. Every player fought hard against Hickory High School, last year's 3A state champions and the final tally was 6-3. Two of Watauga's own, Jax Marsh (10) and Nathan Cohen (12), won both their singles and doubles match.
As of now, Watauga is undefeated in their conference matches, putting them on track to once again be conference champions.

Gottschalk, a junior, said he will improve his skills this season by "keeping focused in practice and trying to be better everyday,"

Talton, a junior, is the second seed on the team. "My goals for the rest of the season are to just be a good teammate and not lose any more matches. " he said.

Harrison Gantt, a sophomore, reflected on the team's chances this season. "We have a lot of better talent this year. Last year we won conference, but this year we definitely have a better team overall, so I think we should do a lot better than last year."
"To improve my future game I want to just be more energetic. I always tend to get lazy while playing, especially when playing a lower level player. If I can keep my energy up and move my feet, I find that I play a lot better, " Talton (pictured to the right) said.
