During the Watauga Playmaker's final showing of their Hurricane Helene play titled "Surge, " spectators were invited to create blackout poetry on pages printed from Hurricane Helene news reports. Many people sat down and created their own pieces of blackout poetry, each of these pieces with a different theme and tone. Extending beyond the theater space, this activity served as a creative outlet for those in need of expressing their feelings following both the musical and the hurricane itself. Please enjoy this brief collection of poetry representing shared loss, grief, and rebuilding.
