This photo essay is a project completed by graduating seniors from Watauga High School, Ragan Huntsman, and Josie Armes. Both seniors will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this fall. Ragan will study Journalism at the Hussman School of Media and Journalism. Josie is entering the chemistry program with a minor in environmental science.
Both seniors attended local elementary schools and had their middle and high school careers severely interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This disruption led them to make a project that highlights the Class of 2024. The goal of the project was to acknowledge all that the Class of 2024 has achieved despite the bumpy start to their high school career, while also showing the Class of 2025 that their goals are achievable and they are more than ready for the year to come.
The student services decision wall served as the initial inspiration for this project. Whether the Class of 2024 is going to a 4-year university, entering the workforce, or going into the military, the wall in the cafeteria is a place to announce your decision. Both Ragan and Josie wanted to feature this.
The wall outside of student services showcases where each Watauga High School senior is going to college.
