Boone, North Carolina, is beloved for its beautiful hikes, views, collegiate football games, winter festivities, and campus life at Appalachian State University. However, the rich, traditional history of music in Appalachian roots is concealed to many students and tourists. Folk, bluegrass, and traditional music shaped Boone's cultural legacy and generations of the High Country's identity. Preserving the traditional music in Appalachia allows future generations to further understand and appreciate societal values, cultural significance, and musical development.
