Women's spring sports season starts in the bitter cold pushing athletes to their boundaries. Besides fighting the spring weather they are also dealing with the end of the school year quickly approaching. This means the girls participating in such sports as soccer and lacrosse are especially good at handling many challenges. In the midst of reviewing for tests and working towards final projects, athletes have to give it their all to find balance between school work and athletics. As the school year comes to an end and summer is close at hand, female athletes at Watauga may find themselves overwhelmed with all they have to complete. Sometimes, the challenge in finding balance is overlooked. Athletes have to make the utmost effort to perform their best during games, while also reaching their goals academically.
These athletes continue to strive for success in their sports despite the many other things happening, like graduation for some and final exam prep for others. They continue to show up for practice, games, and other sports related events while also being present at school and completing their work. Even if the outcome isn't exactly perfect, the effort that these female athletes offer shouldn't go unrecognized.
