A Look Into DECA's State Competition
Last weekend, Watauga DECA members traveled to Greensboro to compete against 6,000 NC students for a chance to win coveted DECA glass. DECA is a club that prepares emerging leaders for careers in business, entrepreneurship, marketing, and hospitality and tourism. At states, participants compete in written events, take event-based tests, and complete a role-play where they are given a business scenario and must present their solutions to a judge. Watauga had ten students place, and 4 qualify for the upcoming international conference in Orlando.
Lily Smith, Maggie Barnes, Sophie Parker, Roz Rabinowitz, and Rebecca Billette had top roleplays in their events.
Mrs. Tarnowski, Watauga's DECA advisor of 7 years and former member, has committed much of her time and effort to helping Watauga's chapter succeed. Watauga DECA received the NC DECA Chapter of Distinction Award with Mrs. T's support and guidance.
