Split Rock is primarily known for one route, the legendary route Ishmael (5.13). 80-feet tall and rarely tested, Ismael is one of the most challenging routes found in the Boone area. A "trad" route, Ishameal requires the climber to use "cams" to place their own bolts in place of using bolts already in place.
Moon Rocks is another prevalent lead and trad climbing location features routes more suited to the intermediate and advanced climber.
The main area of Moon Rocks is a narrow corridor chock-full of routes and variations that are largely nameless.
During the day that I went to Moon Rocks , a spring shower had affected the wall to the southern side of the main rock. This section was also full of bolts, but, like the main corridor, the routes are largely unnamed.
Away from the main corridor is the section that gave Moon Rocks it's name. Crater-like holes in the rocks create a lunar feel to the rock.
