Michele Mederos, WHS School Counselor
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give" ~ Winston Churchill
About Me ~
I work with students in the Class of 2027.
I came to WHS in 2017 and have worked in our district since 2008. My experience has been at all levels, K-12 in Washington and Oregon. Prior to my school counseling career, I worked in child advocacy and community mental health.
I feel very lucky to have landed in a career that taps into my passion for young people and their families. My intent is to help students know that they are valued and cared as we work together to find progress. I also strive to help students understand that they have an important task in high school with creating success NOW so that they can have many opportunities later, and that EVERYONE can be successful. Every student CAN be college/career ready!
I strive to be approachable and my hope is that we can work together so that students feel heard, are challenging themselves, can persevere, and achieve goals.

Helpful tips:
Check Skyward weekly to track progress (parents have a login, as well as the student-call the school secretary if you do not know your login)
Check your email - students and parents! There is a lot of important information that goes out via email.
Check the Career Center page on the school website - filled with events and information: jobs, scholarships, career-related field trips, college visits, College 101 Series, etc.
Check the Counseling Center website on the school's main website. Both Counseling & Career Center pages will be under the "Academic" tab.
If you cannot find the information you need, make an appointment with your counselor.
With academic concerns, always start communication with the teacher first. If you still have questions or concerns after that, see your counselor and we can problem-solving next steps together.
