Professional Summary


My name is Jim Reed and this will be my 17th year as teacher at Washougal High School. I have a wife, Briana, and two boys (Macain and Kenton). Family is very important to me. Things we enjoy doing is hiking, concerts and travelling (When there isn't a pandemic). I have been at Washougal my entire professional career including my student teaching. I have taught a wide arrange of subjects including; Special Education B.D. , World History, U.S. History, Sociology, Psychology, Student Leadership, CWP, AP Government & Politics, and AP Psychology. I grew up in Ridgefield, Washington and I am a proud graduate of Ridgefield High School (Ridgefield, WA) - class of ’97 GO SPUD's! Yes a potato...:( . I received my Bachelors of Arts in Social Sciences from Washington State University in '2004. I went on to get my Masters of Education in 2010. Here at WHS I have done many great things and attended many workshops during my time here such as: Stuff the Bus (CO-founder), Wharton Business School (Financial literacy), AP Government and Psychology workshops, Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS), Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) and Teaching American History Grant (TAH). This year I am teaching CWI, AP Government, and AP Psychology.


I competed in high school & college for Cross Country and Track, I competed for the Community Colleges of Spokane, University of Montana and Warner Pacific. I won an individual Washington A/B state Championship for XC in 1995, in my junior year and won a team title in track in 1997. I have coached cross country at Clark Community College, Ridgefield and Washougal H.S. Personal Records in case any runners are interested:

I became an educator because of my background in sports which helped me realize that I wanted to pursue a career in helping people. I love the community of Washougal. It is a deep rooted community that will drop everything to help out a member in need.
