The Helen Hull Memorial Fund - This is our longest running fund of support. It is a yearly donation that helps our struggling learners to thrive. Helen herself passed in 1996. She grew up in a log cabin in Montana, worked her way through high school to pay her room and board, and graduated at the bottom of the Great Depression of 1933. Her first teaching assignment paid $60.00 a month. Her husband on his graduation earned $90.00 per month. They moved to Washougal and had careers that spanned 31 years. 25 of those years were at Hathaway Elementary.Helen and her husband were quite dedicated in all they were involved in and we so appreciate their thoughtfulness, not only in the books purchased over the years, but in their flexibility to cover new computer support programs and other learning supplies that help teachers and students to progress so quickly. They will always be in our hearts and thoughts.
Pi Beta Phi fraternity have generously donated funds for us to purchase much needed Book sets for early learners, Birthday books to make our students feel special, classroom and library books as well. We are grateful for your support!
The Otto / Christofferson Family - Building shelves, benches, computer help, Donations of new relevant books, Cleaning and Re-categorizing the entire collection to bring up to standard. Two years + of Four people, full time volunteering plus many more to come part time! Wowzers! Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. It truly has allowed our library program to grow and improve.
Julie and Doug Norcross. Over the years this family has donated just about everything. Time, Books, Learning toys, incentives for all of our students. Boosters, Preschool, Classrooms and the library have all benefited from their donations. Because of them we were able to start a free book giveaway to ensure everyone is reading even in the summer. Thank you for your years of giving back to the community and all of your support for our local families. We really appreciate you!
The Susan Champion Family - Susan was a teacher, here at Hathaway, who also had a way of feeding supplies and books back into school out of her own pocket. When she tragically left us, much too soon, her family generously donated books to add to our collection in her honor. She has inspired us to stand up and promote reading to the best of our abilities. Her generous nature will long be remembered here at Hathaway.
Wilma (Willie) McOmie - Our Dairy Queen Queen. -has owned the restaurant for 37 years. She retired in 2017. She was such a supporter of our schools. Not only did she hire our students, but she trained unskilled students including those with special needs, she donated free ice cream coupons, burgers, shared displays, and was open to helping us get any thing to give incentives to our youths to keep learning and thrive. Her leadership in giving back to our students will be greatly missed. Thank you Wilma for all your support.
Kathy and Bruce Stanton - Kathy was the librarian before Mrs. Christofferson came. She had already started the process of cleaning out old titles that were no longer relevant, but more importantly, laid the groundwork for changing perception of what a library program could be. She and her husband have also generously fed back money into shelving, art, books and many other areas that make our space functional and beautiful.
Hillary Marshall and Family - In memory of their mother (also a dedicated teacher), have donated so many audio books and classroom supplies to our school. These donations not only have helped the library but all classes in the building from Preschool to 5th and I suspect in other buildings... all the way through high school. Thank you for helping all of our students!
Thank you for Grants that have helped students. From Breakout kits, science projects, field trips and much much more we appreciate all the hard work you do to bring more opportunities to our students.

FirstBook was started to help schools even the playing field in providing learning materials to schools who could not compete with larger funded districts. We are very grateful. Through donations they now provide everything from computers, food, clothing, books and PE equipment for any title one school. Specifically, here in the library, we have been able to go from an average of 1979 non fiction texts, to providing new current up to date nonfiction that excites our readers. Many of our staff are now using these resources to stretch our dollars. Thank you!
