Our school will promote an open door policy. Teachers, staff members, community members, etc. who have a question or concern are invited to communicate directly with Melissa about any issue. Since we are a group of professionals, we need to communicate professionally with each other, about each other, and about students and members of the community. If you have a problem with another individual, please handle the situation directly in a positive and proactive manner. If the situation needs some mediation, let Melissa know and she would be happy to help.
All volunteers at our school must fill out a volunteer form each year. This is a district policy and has been put in place to ensure student safety and the safety of the volunteer in regards to injuries. Turn the completed firms to the office.
Faculty may park in the far parking lot in the front of the school marked "FACULTY". Please leave parking for guests in the front of the school.
Kindergarten will be excused from classrooms to parents or siblings.
Parents are to stay in their cars during pick up time.
Faculty dues are $30 and are due at the beginning of the year to the front office. Dues are used to purchase gifts for staff for funerals, birth of a baby, etc.
Sunshine Committee-the Sunshine Committee will set up seasonal faculty parties. They will also purchase gifts for staff as needed.

Before and After School Gate/Duty
When it is your turn to be on morning duty, be on the back playground (or kindergarten playground) area wearing a safety vest starting no later than 8:30 a.m. until 8:55 a.m. (when the first bell rings) and in front or back of the school at the end of the school day for 10 minutes or until most students depart. This duty is critical and must be done daily during your grade level’s assigned day. Don’t expect a substitute to do this duty. Administration will take the front of the school in the morning. After school, one or two teachers will be helping at the parking lot crosswalk and two teachers will help with bus duty in the back of the school. In order to be easily seen by students and parents, wearing a vest is required while on any outside duty including recess.
Monday: 1st Grade
Tuesday: 2nd Grade
Wednesday: 3rd Grade
Thursday: 4th Grade
Friday: 5th Grade
Be professional and courteous as you use the workrooms. They are organized and clean. Pick up ALL of your scraps or mess and leave it “better than you found it.” Please do not try to repair any of the machines. Tell Cammie and she can call in the experts to do the repairs. Don’t ask your family members or a parent to use the machines unless they know all of our procedures for usage (such as no card stock to be run through a copy machine, etc.) and you’ve spent time training them.
It is a wonderful thing to have our own children at school with us. We do, however, need to have our own children follow the rules of the school like the other children do. Please have your children go outside in the morning. Please keep ALL children out of the faculty room and workrooms unless they are walking through with you or helping you. Children should be in your classroom and not wandering around the halls.
In one of your very fist team meetings review together how to use and make regular "Student Logs or Entries" on email or Educator's Handbook. If you don't understand how to do this, ask for help. When an event or parent contact occurs, stick a post-it note on your computer until you have time to make an entry. Don't be too detailed, judgmental, or express your opinion. Record the facts and what will be done to improve or correct the situation. This is very important especially when you see a repeating behavior.
