RJ's will be worth 10 points per week, (2 points per day) for a total of 20 points per RJ. Books read for RJ's do not have to be a book report book. The purpose of reading assessments is for the student to demonstrate proficiency in plot structure and character development, as well as the author’s use of theme and point of view.. Remember that the weekly reading logs are how students show evidence of their reading, so stay on top of those on a regular basis. Students need to record time read, page started and page finished, total pages for the day, and a 7th grade level summative, compound sentence. Correct capitalization and punctuation is expected. Students are expected to read for every school day. On holidays which would normally be a school day, students may complete the RJ for extended learning points. Students who are not completing RJ's will be assigned study hall and can only make up one day of RJ per day of Study Hall.
