ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Michael Young. This is my 13th year as a school counselor in the Washington County School District, and my 2nd year at Legacy Elementary School...GO BRONCOS! I love being a school counselor and working with kids and their families. I am here to help in anyway I can. I look forward to working with you and your student(s).
I graduated in 2010 from Southern Utah University with a Bachelors degree in Psychology, and then in 2012 with a Masters of Educational Psychology - School Counseling degree from the University of Utah. I am a certified licensed school counselor(k-12) in the state of Utah.
I have 2 amazing kids: 1 boy (14) and 1 girl (17). I love spending time with my family, watching movies and sports, hiking, camping, and going to the lake...and I REALLY like just chillax'n at home with a tall glass of Mtn. Dew or Dr. Pepper; and snacks, gotta have snacks!
THE COUNSELOR'S ROLE
An Elementary School Counselor performs the vital role of setting the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental School Counseling Program, counselors work as a team with parents, school staff, and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, school counselors can help all children to achieve academic success and reach their full potential.
