Welcome Message for Students and Families

Hello everyone! My name is Austyn Cheatham and I am a Washington County native and graduate. During my junior and senior year at WCHS, I was apart of a cohort of students who earned their associates degree through a program called Commander College. Upon graduating, I earned my Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. After graduating from high school, I went on to the University of Kentucky to earn my Bachelor of Science in Family Science with plans of going on to teach through the option 6 program. This program allows individuals who have successfully completed a bachelors degree and are admitted into a master's teaching program begin teaching. While teaching, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching - Special Education (P-12). Once I was eligible, I went on to earn my Rank 1 and Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degrees for Principal (P-12) and Director of Special Education. Working with students and professional development are two of my biggest passions. My previous work experience in education lies in working with students that have emotional/behavioral disabilities through a highly structured positive/ behavior support program, known as Positive Approach to Student Success for grades K-8. I just completed my second year working in the collaborative academic and resource settings. I work with students on ELA and Math, grades 6-8. Outside of my teaching career, I also run the Home Sweet Home Team brokered by Real Estate Go To where I get to help others buy and sell real estate. When I'm not working, I enjoy being outside, spending time my little girl, wife, and friends, trying new things, learning new things, traveling, CrossFit, and going to church.
