Use these ideas to help keep your child's brain engaged.
Try to do some of these activities while you're home!
GENERAL ACTIVITIES
Choose a research website from our Internet & School Resources page and learn about a topic that you know nothing about. Watch the video or read the article, and then tell an adult some new things you've learned.
Explore Net Smartz Kids to practice making smart choices and staying safe online.
Read a book, and then tell a family member all about your book. If it was fiction, tell about the lesson the character learned. If it was nonfiction, tell about what you've learned.
Go to the ABCYA website and choose your grade level. Then, choose an activity in the "Letters" section.
Go outside and explore your favorite things. Write about what you found.
Help someone in your house cook your favorite meal or dessert. List out the ingredients.
Read a book and then draw a picture to share your favorite part.
Read a book and then give it a rating. Score it on a scale of 1-5. 1 is terrible, 2 is not great, 3 is just okay, 4 is good, and 5 is great. Why did you give it that score?
Find a fun, new place to read! Is it a closet? Outside? Under the table?
Reread your favorite book.
Read aloud to someone: a parent, sibling, pet, or stuffed animal.
Read a poem. Then try to write your own poem.
Try making your own story, game, or animation using Scratch.
