Students are expected to take a few facts and turn them into a 5 – 6 sentence paragraph.
The other sentences in the paragraph provide supporting facts.
Has a conclusion sentence.
The fifth grade students begin studying how to multiply and divide decimals.
*Students should use their Math Notebooks in Google Classroom and VIDEOS posted on my website to help show steps and gain understanding of skills learned throughout this and past weeks.
Whole Group Reading Novels of Study:
Number the Stars - the story centers on 10-year-old Annemarie Johansen, who risks her life to help her Jewish best friend, Ellen Rosen, escape Nazi-occupied Copenhagen in 1943.
Book Reports: Students should be reading their individual chapter book every night. Students will be using their posted notes to identify characters, unfamiliar vocabulary, and key events in each chapter. Activity 1 - What Is a Star?
Students begin their own exploration of the wonders of the cosmos as they learn about stars. Students discover that stars are balls of hot gases and come in different shapes and sizes. They learn that the star at the center of our solar system is called the Sun.
Students examine how far some stars are from Earth and how this distance, along with the brightness of the star, affects its appearance in our night sky. By comparing and contrasting stars, students begin to develop an understanding of Earth’s place in the
universe.
